Opening the show for (and playing with!) Baaba Maal October 13th, 2011 at the L2 Arts and Culture Center in Denver.

The Gyil (pronounced JEE-lee) is the national instrument of the Lobi and Dagara people of Ghana, Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire, West Africa. It is made from fourteen wooden slats that are suspended, on a frame, over calabash gourds. Greg would like to thank his teachers Kakraba Lobi, Aaron Bebe Sukura, S.K. Kakraba and John Pennington. This group also recently backed up the wonderful singer Prudence Mabhena from Zimbabwe.
